OUR CORE DATA PACKAGES
All packages are priced per school. Quotations for bulk purchases by larger organisations, such as Kāhui Ako and clusters, are available on request. Every package we offer is designed to be a comprehensive solution, pairing high-powered analytical dashboards with expert online data coaching to ensure your leadership team can move from data collection to impactful action.
NCEA Package
Annual Investment: $3,000 (GST excl)*
This comprehensive solution provides a deep dive into senior secondary achievement, featuring four specialised dashboards designed to evaluate NCEA data at every level of your school’s structure.
- Subject dashboard: Delivers a granular analysis of NCEA data for individual subjects, including standard-level grades, internal vs. external credit splits, and course endorsements.
- Curriculum Area Level dashboard: Aggregates NCEA data for all subjects within a specific curriculum area (e.g., all Level 2 Social Sciences), making it an ideal tool for areas featuring multiple smaller subjects.
- Year Level dashboard: Provides a unified view of NCEA grades and credits for all subjects within a specific NCEA level to monitor cohort-wide performance.
- NCEA Qualification dashboard: Offers high-level analysis of year-level qualifications, including NCEA Levels 1, 2, 3, and University Entrance.
- Statistical Analysis: All dashboards perform independent sample statistical testing for longitudinal comparisons (year-on-year) and cross-sectional comparisons (e.g., Māori vs. non-Māori). The Qualification dashboard also includes one-sample testing for theoretical comparisons against national rates.
- Expert Data Coaching: Includes a one-off 5 hours of initial data coaching during the first year to support high-level leader involvement, followed by a 1-hour review at the start of every subsequent year.
Junior Assessment Packages
Annual Investment: $1,500 (GST excl)* per assessment type
We provide dedicated packages for various assessment frameworks, including SMART, NZCER (e.g., PAT, STAR, STWE), e-asTTle, Overall Teacher Judgments, and PACT.
- Achievement Dashboard: Specifically designed to evaluate student achievement at the end of each term. Examples include PAT Achievement and e-asTTle Achievement dashboards
- Progress Dashboard: Built to track learning impact and student growth throughout the year or across multiple years. Examples include PAT Progress and e-asTTle Progress dashboards.
- Statistical Analysis: Includes independent sample testing for longitudinal and cross-sectional comparisons, one-sample testing for national benchmarks, and the ability to compare all teaching groups to school-wide norms using the analysis of means.
- Expert Data Coaching: Features a one-off 3 hours of initial data coaching during the first year, followed by a 1-hour review at both the beginning and end of every subsequent year.
Across-Sector Learning Package
Annual Investment: $3,000 (GST excl)* (reduced to $1,500 for subscribers of our NCEA and relevant Junior Assessment packages)
This package provides a unified dashboard linking junior assessment data directly to NCEA qualification outcomes.
- Long-Term Impact Insights: Models the trajectory from junior schooling to senior success. Here is an example linking Year 9 PAT data and specific initiatives to NCEA Level 3 and University Entrance attainment.
- Advanced Statistical Modelling: Utilises ordinal logistic regression to move beyond simple achievement reporting, disaggregating how specific teaching initiatives impact long-term student learning and success.
- Expert Data Coaching: Features a one-off 3 hours of initial data coaching during the first year to establish your systems, followed by a 1-hour review at the start of every subsequent year.

Terms of Service & Technical Requirements
To ensure the seamless delivery, security, and high performance of our data solutions, the following requirements apply to all Sound Data products:
1. The Power BI Service Environment
All Sound Data dashboards are deployed and hosted within the Power BI Service (the cloud-based environment for Microsoft Power BI). This infrastructure ensures that your data remains within your school’s ecosystem while providing staff with secure, browser-based access to interactive insights.
2. Licensing & Costs
Microsoft Power BI licensing is managed and funded directly by the client. As per the Ministry of Education’s licensing update, Power BI Pro is available to schools as a paid add-on to your current Microsoft 365 agreement.
To utilise Sound Data services, the following licensing must be in place:
User Access: Every staff member who requires access to the dashboards must hold a Power BI Pro license.
Sound Data Consultant License: The client must provide and fund one additional Power BI Pro license for Sound Data’s exclusive use. This account is essential for us to publish, maintain, and update reports directly within your Power BI Service environment.
3. Data Governance
By utilising your own Power BI Service tenant, your school maintains full ownership and sovereign control over its data. Sound Data acts as an authorised service provider to transform your raw data into actionable signals. It is the school’s responsibility to manage internal user permissions and adhere to Ministry of Education data privacy guidelines.
4. IT Administration
The school’s IT administrator is responsible for ensuring the Power BI Service is enabled and that Sound Data is granted the necessary permissions (via our dedicated license) to deploy and manage reports within your school’s workspaces.
